Top Tips for Naturally Increasing Energy

Most people want more energy, but don’t know how to obtain it without energy drinks, sugar or caffeine. As a mother to an almost 7 month old who does not sleep through the night yet, I understand this first hand.  I’m sleep deprived every single day, so creating natural energy is imperative in order to be my best. Some days I wake up bright eyed and ready to take on the day, while other days I wake up and don’t know how I will get through the day after a rough, sleepless night. It’s normal to be in a state of balance one day and imbalance the next; that’s the ebb and flow of life.

I have found that what works well for me is to move my body every single day, even if it’s for 5 minutes. I strategically plan little workouts, such as 5, 10, or 15 minute yoga or strength training routines from YouTube while Emilia is napping or content playing. Even after 5 minutes, I feel more energized and balanced, physically and emotionally. Once the endorphins are released, I always feel like I can accomplish more throughout the day.

More importantly, eating a well balanced, plant-based diet is my number one natural energy contributor. Eating whole foods (vegetables, fruits, beans, seeds, nuts, whole grains) keeps me full, energized, and satiated all day. I feel strong and good in my skin.

Read the list below and experiment to see what works well for you!

TOP TIPS

1. TAKE ONE DAY A WEEK where your only goal is to relax and recharge. Sleep all day if you want to, read books, go the spa, get a massage, do some light and fun cooking. The only rule is that you do things that will relax and recharge you on this day.

2. GO FOR HIGH-QUALITY FOOD. Whenever you can, choose high-quality food: organic, local,
grass-fed, sustainable, fair trade. These types of food are much more energizing for the body and better for the planet.

3. MAKE EVERY MEAL A RITUAL. Sit down, light some candles, breathe, and put your fork down between bites. Slowing down and making your food and the experience look and feel beautiful will greatly help your digestion and happiness. You’ll be more satisfied, and your weight will balance out naturally.

4. CREATE A MORNING ROUTINE. To set the tone for each day, take some time in the morning to breathe, meditate, do yoga, dance, journal, and/or make breakfast. There is no requirement here except simply blocking out some time to engage in activities that feel great. Pick a few things you like to do and experiment.

5. FIND A BUDDY FOR SUPPORT. Get support from a Health Coach, a therapist, or simply a friend. Schedule dates or sessions once every two weeks at minimum to talk about yourself and process emotions with an unbiased person listening.
