“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food”
Smoothies are a fantastic way to load up on nutrient dense foods in one sitting without a lot of preparation and fuss. They are so easy to throw together in minutes and make your taste buds super happy!
This recipe was created in my kitchen before a beach trip. I was craving a tropical style, refreshing drink for the car ride and came up with what I think is my favorite tasting smoothie to date. The key to this smoothie was using the “frozen drink” setting on my blender, which made it SO thick and creamy… much like a frozen pina colada 🙂 This was the perfect way to kick off our beach day!
The fiber from the mango, banana and flax seeds promote healthy digestion and the anti-inflammatory properties from the ginger, lemon and turmeric help to heal and nourish your body. It’s also super hydrating and has healthy fat from the coconut milk for energy and proper brain and organ function.
What’s not to love?
- 1 can full fat coconut milk or any non-dairy milk
- 1 cup water
- 2 frozen bananas
- 2 cups frozen mango (fresh works too)
- Juice from half of a lemon or 2 tbsp
- 1 ” peeled ginger chunk
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon flax seeds
